About Us
Daniel Lenko Estate Winery was founded in 1999 by Daniel Lenko. Daniel is a 3rd generation grape grower. The Lenko family has always been involved in agriculture, originally located in Manitoba and then moving to Beamsville in 1947 to the present site located west of town on the Beamsville Bench. In 1959 Daniel's grandfather John and father William planted some of the first Chardonnay vines in Canada, the vineyard thrived in this unique microclimate and at 53 years of age is the oldest Chardonnay planting in Canada .
William was a pioneer in the Ontario vinifera wine movement also planting Merlot in 1974 and Viognier in 1990.
In 1999 after farming with the family for 10 years Daniel Lenko took over the Lenko Vineyards and Daniel Lenko Estate Winery was born. William and his wife Helen, still greatly involved in the daily farm action, would welcome guests into their home and create a memorable experience that would not be forgotten.
Our focus and determination has not changed since we opened our tasting room doors in 2000, "The best grapes make the best wines". We don't buy any grapes, we grow them ourselves. With cropping levels of 2 tons per acre our wines have the varietal intensity and body that appeals to the true oenophile.
